Adults Only Hotels in Cyprus

Cyprus does adults-only beautifully — sun-warmed stone, Paphos coastlines and Ayia Napa's turquoise coves, all designed for couples. Our three picks show the range: Ivi Mare for a sea-view infinity pool on the Paphos beachfront, Amavi for all-suite romance on Faros beach, and Amanti for a rooftop pool bar minutes from Nissi Beach.

Choosing between the three adult only hotels in Cyprus we book most

Ivi Mare (Louis Hotels, 18+) is the value choice: a genuine beachfront position on the Paphos strip, a sea-view infinity pool, three restaurants and rooms that are comfortable rather than lavish — ideal for a week of sun and sea without overspending. Amavi, Made for Two (18+) is the upgrade a few minutes along the coast at Faros beach: every room is a suite, many with private pools or sea-facing terraces, with fine dining, a serious spa and the quietest atmosphere of the three — the one we book most for honeymoons and big anniversaries. Amanti, Made for Two (18+) in Ayia Napa is the sociable one: rooftop pool bar, Mediterranean-Asian restaurant, cocoon suites and Nissi Beach on foot. If you want to read, swim and eat well, choose Paphos; if you want a sundowner scene and beach clubs, choose Ayia Napa.

Paphos or Ayia Napa — which area suits you

Paphos is the calmer half of adults-only Cyprus: a seafront promenade, a working harbour, UNESCO mosaics and the Akamas peninsula within an easy drive. Ivi Mare and Amavi both sit on the water here, roughly 20–25 minutes from Paphos airport. Ayia Napa is brighter and busier — Nissi Beach, beach clubs and rooftop bars — with Amanti a short walk from the sand and about 45 minutes from Larnaca. Couples wanting long lunches and coastal walks choose Paphos; couples who want nightlife within reach choose Ayia Napa.

April to June — warm, quiet and best value

Sea temperatures climb into the low twenties, the coastal paths above Paphos are still green, and adults-only resorts are at their calmest. This is the sweet spot for couples who want heat without the July crowds, and it is usually the cheapest time to fly from the UK outside of winter.

July and August — long beach days

Peak Cypriot summer, with reliable 33°C days and warm evenings for late dinners on the terrace. Book adults-only suites six to nine months ahead, as the Made for Two properties in Paphos and Ayia Napa sell out first.

September to November — the connoisseur's season

The Mediterranean is at its warmest in September, the light is softer, and prices drop noticeably from mid-October. Ideal for honeymoons, anniversaries and couples who prefer long lunches and spa afternoons to poolside crowds.

Worth leaving the resort for

From Paphos: the Tombs of the Kings and Paphos Archaeological Park, the Akamas peninsula and Lara Bay by 4x4, and the Troodos wine villages of Omodos and Lefkara for a long lunch. From Ayia Napa: Cape Greco's sea caves, the quieter Konnos Bay, and Protaras for a calmer beach day. Two or three days of car hire covers all of it without paying for a car you leave parked.

Advice for couples travelling to Cyprus

  • Paphos suits couples who want coastal walks, harbour dining and UNESCO archaeology on the doorstep; Ayia Napa suits those who want beach clubs, Nissi Beach and rooftop bars.
  • Ask for a swim-up or sea-view suite at booking — on adults-only Cyprus resorts these categories are limited and are usually the first to go.
  • Most Cyprus adults-only resorts are 18+ or 16+; confirm the exact minimum age when you enquire, as it varies between Louis and Made for Two properties.
  • Flights run year-round from most UK airports to Paphos and Larnaca, so a five-night midweek break is genuinely practical, not just a full fortnight.
  • Hire a car for two or three days rather than the whole stay — the Akamas peninsula and the Troodos wine villages are easy day trips from Paphos.
  • Check which board basis suits you: Cyprus has strong local restaurants, so half board plus a few nights out often beats all-inclusive in Paphos, while all-inclusive works better in Ayia Napa where eating out is pricier in peak season.
  • Flying into the wrong airport is the most common mistake — Paphos resorts from Larnaca add well over an hour each way, so check the airport before you book the flight.
